Constitutional Carry in Texas is almost a reality. When it passes and is signed into law, anyone who can legally possess a handgun can carry either concealed or openly without a permit.

I doesn't mean that you don't need training in safety, Texas carry law, Use of Force, and other important areas covered by the Texas License to Carry class.

Reasons to get a Texas LTC
Even if Constitutional Carry in Texas Passes
Texas Law: Learn and understand the state laws that you will STILL be held accountable for even with Constitutional Carry. It is everyone’s responsibility that carries a gun to know the laws related to carrying a gun.
Travel between states: There are currently 36 states that accept the Texas LTC. This means if you do any traveling, when you go into one of these other states that accepts the Texas LTC, you can continue to carry your gun.
Purchasing a firearm will be quicker and easier. With an LTC, you do not need to have a background check when purchasing guns from a store.
Learn and understand the Use of Force rules so that you don’t end up charged with aggravated assault, manslaughter, or murder.
Learn where you can and cannot legally carry a firearm and the penalties for infractions
Interactions with law enforcement: Police Officers in Texas can look up any person’s driver’s license information to determine if they have a valid LTC. This makes it simple and easy for a police officer to determine that you are legally carrying the gun. Without an LTC and depending on why law enforcement has made contact with you, you may be sitting and waiting for a while for police to determine that you are eligible to own/carry the gun.
